Roland HP 702 Dark Rosewood Digital Piano

Roland HP702 Dark Rosewood — Premium Home Digital Piano

The Roland HP702 Dark Rosewood is a refined home digital piano that pairs Roland's SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling engine with a compact, elegantly curved cabinet in a Dark Rosewood finish. Designed for everyday playing at home, it delivers an authentic acoustic-style response that grows with the player, from first lessons through demanding repertoire. The HP702 is the right choice for home pianists who want a long-term instrument that combines studio-grade tone, a responsive hammer-action keyboard, and modern connectivity in a furniture-friendly footprint.

What Sets the Roland HP702 Apart

Unlike most digital pianos that rely on sampled recordings, the HP702 uses Roland's SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling — an advanced technology that reproduces the complex physical interactions of an acoustic piano in real time. The Headphones 3D Ambience feature places the player inside a concert-hall soundstage during silent practice, while Bluetooth audio and MIDI open the instrument to wireless streaming, apps, and online lessons. Together with the Progressive Damper Action pedal system and a deep Piano Designer editing suite, these features turn a compact home piano into a fully expressive performance instrument.

Keyboard Action and Playing Feel

The keyboard is where most players form their first impression, and the HP702's PHA-4 Standard action is engineered to satisfy both beginners and demanding performers. With escapement, Ivory Feel textured surfaces, and high-resolution sensing, every nuance of touch translates into accurate musical response.

• Keyboard: PHA-4 Standard with Escapement and Ivory Feel (88 keys) — textured, moisture-absorbing keys that replicate real ebony and ivory for confident grip
• Touch Sensitivity: 100 types, fixed touch, plus Hammer Response in 10 levels — lets players dial in the precise resistance and dynamic response that matches their style
• Pedals: Progressive Damper Action pedal (damper with continuous detection, soft pedal with continuous detection/function assignable, sostenuto with function assignable) — supports true half-pedaling and traditional acoustic techniques

Sound Engine and Polyphony

Roland's modeling approach generates each note in real time, capturing the evolving character of an acoustic piano rather than replaying a static recording. The HP702 ships with a deep tone library and limitless polyphony on piano voices, so even dense passages never drop notes.

• Piano Sound: SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling — real-time algorithmic generation that responds to touch and pedal nuance
• Polyphony: Limitless on piano tones; 384 voices for other sounds — no note dropouts during sustained pedal use or layered performances
• Tones: 324 total — covers electric pianos, strings, organs, and a General MIDI 2 bank for ensemble playing

Speakers, Connectivity, and Learning Tools

The HP702 is built for the realities of modern home life — quiet late-night practice, family listening, and connected learning through apps. Its speaker system, Bluetooth, and onboard educational features make it a complete practice and entertainment hub.

• Built-in Speakers: 2 x 12 cm (4-3/4") drivers, 14 W x 2 rated output — for room-filling sound
• Headphones: Headphones 3D Ambience effect — recreates the acoustic ambience of a concert hall through any connected headphones
• Bluetooth: Audio Ver 3.0 (SCMS-T) and MIDI Ver 4.0 — stream music from a phone, connect to the Roland Piano App, and access interactive scores
• Learning Tools: Built-in metronome, TwinPiano mode, Split and Dual layers, 287 lesson songs (Hanon, Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny 100), plus Do Re Mi lessons — supports structured daily practice for students and adults
• Dimensions and Weight: 1,377 mm W x 468 mm D x 1,067 mm H, 54.4 kg — compact upright footprint that fits apartments and living rooms
